Healthy Food Project

Healthy eating is one of the fundamental pillars for a full and balanced life. And when it comes to children of school age, this issue becomes even more crucial. That’s why Green Book School believes in the extreme importance of engaging in projects that aim to teach students the importance of healthy eating and how it can influence their lives. One of the most effective ways to do this is through an understanding of the origin of food. When children understand where their food comes from, they become more conscious of the food choices they make. This is because they begin to realize that there are different types of food and that each one has a nutritional value and specific function for our body.

With this in mind, as part of the “Healthy Food” project, our Nursery II class visited the industrial kitchen of the Green Book School’s Elementary and High School unit. The visit allowed the children to see up close the entire process of producing the food they consume at school for lunch, snacks, and dinner. From the selection of ingredients to the final preparation, they could see how important it is to have care and attention at every stage of the process. But our encouragement for healthy eating doesn’t stop there! Daily, we offer varied food options on our menu, including fruits, vegetables, and legumes. And, of course, it’s worth noting that all meals are prepared with quality ingredients and follow the principles of a balanced diet. From Early Childhood Education to Elementary School, Green Book consistently promotes playful activities such as cooking classes or gardening workshops. These activities allow students to try new foods and learn how to prepare them in a healthy and tasty way.

With the help of the school, children can learn from an early age the importance of healthy eating and acquire eating habits that will accompany them throughout their lives.
