We recently opened new spaces in our Early Childhood Education Campus for extracurricular activities. Ballet, Judo, Circus, Yoga and Artistic Gymnastics are the activities that, for now, make up our grid of extracurricular activities. Classes are offered for children from Nursery III to Kindergarten II, after or before school – depending on each child’s school period.
Let’s talk a little about each activity and the benefits that each one offers to the children.
BALLET
Our ballet classes are based on the Royal Ballet method, which was developed by the Royal Academy of Dance. During classes, in addition to the technical ballet steps, students will also exercise psychomotricity, expression, motor development, sociability and creativity. All this in a playful way, in a class all prepared for each age group.
CIRCUS
Circus classes are aimed at body practice as a whole, using playful and challenging methods for children. In each class, children will realize their ability to overcome challenges, which often seem far from being accomplished – and it is precisely here that the magic happens: being able, achieving and being happy with each achievement.
ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
Artistic Gymnastics brings countless benefits to children who practice it, helping to control the body through movements such as spins, jumps, swings, landings, etc. Within the process of practicing artistic gymnastics, the child gets to know his or her own body, being aware of what its limits are. The movements, in fact, range from the simplest to the most complex, gradually increasing their motor repertoire, such as jumping, balance, motor coordination and various locomotions that are fundamental for the child’s learning.
JUDO
Judo students are constantly learning about patience, friendliness, respect, discipline, determination and the courage to face challenges. Recommended by UNESCO, judo is one of the most complete and suitable sports for children and adolescents, as it works the body in an integral way and, at the same time, promotes friendship and mutual respect.
YOGA
Yoga classes are taught in a playful way, combining body practices with elements of the arts, such as painting and music, in games and dynamics that stimulate the child’s creativity. The class is based on the “Yoga dos Bichos” method, which was developed by the pedagogue and illustrator Joãocaré (www.yogadosbichos.com.br). Classes address Yoga concepts and practices, involving body postures that work on flexibility, mobility and strengthening; breathing exercises, which increase body awareness and stimulate the development of resources to deal with challenging emotions such as anxiety, anger, sadness and hyperactivity.
